Companies like The Gap, Old Navy, Gillette and Dove have entire ad campaigns that celebrate obese women. The push is that they are bold, beautiful and empowered, which may indeed be the case. The other reality however, is that these girls are addicts that have a 7-10 fold increased risk for every cancer, systemic inflammation, pre diabetes, insulin resistance, cardiovascular disease, osteoarthritis and a higher chance of dying from Covid. The brain scans for obese individuals look just like that of a methamphetamine addict or late stage alcoholic. I don’t believe severe metabolic dysfunction and addiction should be celebrated or made to be normal. You don't see heroin addicts riding Peletons or fun loving alcoholics happily driving their kids around to promote auto sales. Why? Because it would be irresponsible, dangerous and send the wrong message.
Obesity is the only addiction where addicts are required to responsibly use their drug of choice daily. Can you imagine asking an alcoholic to just have two drinks or a cocaine enthusiast to stop after two lines? Not eating for the long term is not really an option, so focus must shift to controlling the brain’s response to food. Fat, in and of itself, oozes inflammatory factors like IL-6, TNF, IL-1 Beta and others. Visceral fat is even worse! The body stays busy fighting this constant storm and is left ill prepared to address infectious viral invaders and to perform necessary DNA maintenance that prevents cancers and a number of other diseases.
The good news is that we have strong, healing protocols for this pervasive form of addiction. We can change the way the brain perceives reward from foods and begin the road to normal consumption. We address epigenetic changes, neurotransmitter concentrations and the microbiome. Please see our Tirzepatide page to learn more about our weight loss peptide of choice!
